Officials identify woman killed after running into tour bus in Punaluu
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 26-year-old woman who was killed after she ran into the path of a tour bus on Kamehameha Highway near Punaluu Tuesday night as Frances Kvatek.
An autopsy will be conduced today to determine the cause of death of the Punaluu resident.
Police said paramedics responded to the woman’s home on Kamehameha Highway near Haleaha Road at about 9:40 p.m.
When paramedics arrived, a 26-year-old woman argued with them and her family and ran off the property onto the highway, where she was hit by a tour bus heading toward Kaneohe, police said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said alcohol is a factor in the crash on the part of the victim.

Police redirected traffic on Kamehameha Highway near the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center while they investigated the crash. Police reopened the highway before 1:30 a.m.
It was Oahu’s 38th traffic death this year, compared to 29 at this time this year.
