Police arrest man suspected of Kailua car break-in

A 28-year-old Waimanalo man is in custody after he allegedly broke a car window to steal items in the vehicle on Tuesday.

Police said a witness saw someone smash the window of car in Kailua, take items from the car and flee in another vehicle. The witness reported the theft and the license plate number of the thief’s car.

A police officer also saw the suspect’s car leaving the crime scene.

The suspect’s car was later located at Castle Memorial Hospital’s parking lot and he was arrested for car theft.
