December trial date set for Hawaii island fatal stabbing
HILO >> The murder trial for a Big Island man charged in a deadly stabbing is scheduled for December.
A Hilo judge on Thursday set Daniel Schuster trial date for Dec. 3. He’s charged with second-degree murder in the death of Joshua Trickel last month.
Schuster has pleaded not guilty.
Trickel’s mother Leslie Peters told the Hawaii Tribune-Herald from her Wisconsin home she hopes Schuster spends life in prison.
During a preliminary hearing, a woman who lives in a downstairs unit in Schuster’s home said the two men were trying to raise money they owed to a drug dealer. She testified Schuster told her Trickel stabbed him first.
Schuster couldn’t be reached at Hawaii Community Correctional Center, where he’s being held on $104,000 bail.
