Hospitalized police officer is released
A Honolulu police officer injured when his patrol car hit a utility pole and caught fire on Monday was released from the hospital Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said.
The 35-year-old Kapolei patrolman, who has not been identified, was responding to a report of a vehicle carrying suspects allegedly involved in an assault on a woman when his patrol car hit the pole on Lualualei Homestead Road about 1:07 p.m. Monday.
He was hospitalized in stable condition with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Two suspects that were under pursuit were arrested by other officers.
