Woman pedestrian, 88, who died after Kuakini crash identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified an 88-year-old Honolulu woman who died after she was hit on Kuakini Street Thursday morning as Martha Miura of Nuuanu.
Police said Miura was hit by a 2004 Honda Civic while she crossed Kuakini Street in front of the Kuakini Medical Center just before 6 a.m.
Paramedics took Miura in “extremely critical condition” to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she died, police said.
A 63-year-old woman driving the Civic was heading west on Kuakini Street to get to work at Kuakini Medical Center.
Miura, who was not in a marked crosswalk, sustained head and internal injuries, police said.
Police closed Kuakini Street for about 2 hours and re-routed traffic on Bachelot Street while they investigated the crash.
