KEKAHA, Kauai >> A wildfire that burned 3,000 acres on Kauai is now fully contained.

The state says Department of Land and Natural Resources firefighters contained the nearly weeklong blaze Wednesday.

Officials reopened Waimea Canyon Drive Wednesday but Kokee Road remains closed until further notice.

As the fire approached a high voltage power line Saturday, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative officials began a voluntary power outage as a precaution. Electricity was restored but the county Department of Water continues to request the Kekaha residents limit water consumption to essential uses until power can be restored to a water storage tank in the area.
