Police arrest 18 drivers on suspicion of being intoxicated

Honolulu police arrested 18 people overnight on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to police records. 

The arrests occurred between 11 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, mostly in the downtown Honolulu and Waikiki areas. Two arrests occurred in windward Oahu, two in Kapolei, one in Ewa Beach and three in various locations on the H-1 freeway.

Five women and 13 men were arrested, police records show. Officers arrested one other man for having an open container of alcohol, but he was not arrested for DUI.

Two of the men face additional charges including refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

Two of the women arrested were under the age of 21, according to police.
