No. 3 UCLA tops No. 9 Hawaii in volleyball

Tabi Love love put down 26 kills en route to being named the Most Outstanding Player and No. 3 UCLA turned back No. 9 Hawaii 28-30, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 to win the Verizon Volleyball Challenge title tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Rachael Kidder added 16 kills and 12 digs for the NCAA defending champion Bruins (6-1). 

Emily Hartong led the Rainbow Wahine (5-2) with 20 kills and Jane Croson added 14 kills and 11 digs. Hartong, Croson and Kidder joined Love on the all-tournament team. 

Also named were UCLA’s Karsta Lowe, San Diego State’s Kristi Jackels and Idaho’s Allison (Walker) Baker.

In the third-place match, San Diego State outlasted Idaho 25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 24-26, 15-12.
