Alert Moanalua Valley neighbor results in burglary arrest

Quick work by an alert neighbor resulted in the arrest of a man, 24, who apparently burglarized a Moanalua Valley home Thursday afternoon.

Police said the woman witnessed two men stealing a television from her neighbor’s carport on Ala Lani Street at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. They refused to stop when she yelled at them but she alerted police and provided them with the description of the suspects and their vehicle, police said.

Police located the vehicle and a suspect walking out of it on Koapaka Street about 20 minutes later later. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was caught by officers, police said.

Police also discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from Moanalua earlier.

The suspect, of Ewa Beach, is being held pending charges of burglary and operating a stolen vehicle.

A second suspect remains at large.
