Power has been restored to nearly all residents in Waipahu after a car apparently hit an electrical box, causing about 1,200 homes to lose electricity early this morning.

Approximately 100 customers along Managers Drive and Mokuola Street are still without power, but work crews are making needed repairs and power should be fully restored around midday, according to Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman Darren Pai.
