Firefighters investigate $200,000 house fire in Lihue
Kauai fire investigators were trying to determine what the started a fire that caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to a house and its contents Thursday night in the Pua Loke subdivision in Lihue.
No one was hurt.
Firefighters received a 9:30 pm. alarm that a three-bedroom, single-story home on Iliahi Street was burning. Crews from the Lihue, Kapaa and Kalaheo fire stations responded and had the fire under control by 9:45 p.m. It was fully extinguished by 11 p.m.
No other structures were threatened, despite the fire’s proximity to nearby homes.
The Americn Red Cross is helping the family displaced by the fire.
