UH basketball forward Standhardinger out 2 weeks
Hawaii basketball junior forward Christian Standhardinger will miss an estimated two weeks of team activities with a staph infection on his right elbow.
The 6-foot-8 Standhardinger is a projected starter at forward for the Rainbow Warriors. The infection, which he said first showed up on Friday, could keep him out for the Nov. 2 exhibition vs. Hawaii Pacific and potentially the Nov. 9 regular-season opener vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Standhardinger had his elbow wrapped as he sat out Monday’s team practice. The Nebraska transfer said he had to visit a hospital to have his elbow treated; there was considerable swelling.
UH is already missing senior center Vander Joaquim from a torn ACL injury. Joaquim is questionable for the season opener.
