Multigenerational households highest in Hawaii
Some 11.1 percent of Hawaii’s households are multigenerational, which the U.S. Census Bureau defines as having three generations or more under one roof.
It is the highest percentage of multigenerational households in the U.S.
Demographically the highest concentration of multigenerational households are of native Hawaiian or Pacific islander ancestry, the Census Bureau found.
The data is part of the latest findings from the American Community Survey, released today and covering a three-year period from 2009 to 2011.
