Betty V. Cabasag, whose car plunged down an embankment into Nuuanu Stream Monday morning, died of multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday.

The manner of death is still pending further tests.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free her from her car which was in the stream at the end of 55 S. Judd St.

Cabasag’s car apparently rammed a steel barrier and went into the ravine.

She died at the scene at 5:14 a.m., paramedics said.
