Police probe 2 unrelated Waikiki stabbings involving Japanese visitors
Two early-morning stabbings involving Japanese tourists in Waikiki today are not related, a police spokeswoman said this afternoon.
City Emergency Medical Services officials said the first may have occurred around midnight, but the 25-year-old victim did not call for help until 9 a.m. The victim was taken from the Pacific Beach Hotel in serious condition to a hospital.
Both police and paramedics said they don’t know where the stabbing occurred.
Police are looking for a man and a woman.
In the second incident, police have opened an attempted murder and robbery investigation after a 29-year-old man was found with a stab wound early this morning on a Kuhio Avenue sidewalk.
EMS officials said the man was transported from near the Waikiki Trade Center on Kuhio Avenue to a trauma center at 4:22 a.m. in serious, and possibly critical, condition. Hawaii News Now reported that the victim was stabbed at an apartment building near Ala Wai Boulevard and walked several blocks to The Ohia building on Kuhio Avenue where he was found.
