A 37-year-old Napili man was charged with murder following a fight with a fellow maintenance worker on Maui Monday.

William Ranep is charged with killing Danny Jose, of Lahaina, Monday night in the parking lot of the Napili Plaza, located at 5095 Napilihau St.

Lahaina police officers responded to reports of a fight at 7 p.m. Monday and were told that the suspect had fled the scene in a white pickup truck that belonged to the maintenance firm, leaving the victim unresponsive on the ground.

Police found the suspect in the truck three hours later.

The victim was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition and placed in ICU. He died Tuesday night.

Ranep’s bail was set at $100,000.
