Finalists for the 28th annual collegiate and high school Butkus Award include Laie’s Manti Te’o, of Notre Dame and Honolulu’s Isaac Savaiinaea, who attends Punahou School.

The Butkus Award encourages football players to train hard, eat well and play with attitude, while avoiding performance-enhancing drugs.

The finalists were selected by a panel of 51 coaches, scouts and journalists. Winners will be announced the first week in December.
