Maui firefighters on Friday rescued a 22-year-old woman who had fallen off a 20-foot cliff in the area of the Bamboo Forest Trail near Kailua.

The fall happened at the second pond about 20 minutes into the trail, firefighters said. It was reported at 3:53 p.m.

Rescue personnel flew in and stabilized the woman who had possible fractures to her shoulder, leg and face.

She was flown out by Fire Department helicopter to a landing zone above Hana Highway. She was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
