A 53-year-old Kuau resident died Monday afternoon after being pulled from the ocean at Koki Beach in Hana.
Fire rescue personnel were called to the scene around 2:15 p.m. Bystanders had pulled the man out of the water and had started CPR. The firefighters assisted with CPR until paramedics arrived.
The man was transported to Hana Clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.
