Emergency crews respond to a multi-vehicle crash in Ewa today.

Eight people were injured, one of them critically, in a multi-vehicle crash at Fort Weaver Road and Kolowaka Drive late Friday morning.

The Department of Emergency Services reported four of the eight went to the hospital in serious condition. A Honolulu Police Department source, however, said a 76-year-old woman that was hospitalized initially in serious has since been downgraded to critical condition.

The crash involved four vehicles heading south on Fort Weaver about 10:30 a.m., police said. Three vehicles were stopped at a red light when a fourth crashed into the one in the rear, causing a chain reaction, police said.

The other three people hospitalized in serious condition were three women, ages 33, 69 and 34, Emergency Services said.

Also hospitalized, in stable condition, were two girls, ages 6 and 4; and a 19-month-old boy, the department said. The eighth victim, a man of an indeterminate age, was hospitalized in stable condition.
