Beachgoers rescue woman from drowning near Turtle Bay

Bystanders rescued a 50-year-old woman, who didn’t know how to swim, got into deep water at a public beach near a North Shore hotel and apparently nearly drowned, Emergency Medical Services officials said.

The woman was in serious condition after the 2 p.m.incident  on the east side of the Turtle Bay Resort, EMS said.

Witnesses pulled the woman out of the water and began CPR, EMS said.

Ocean Safety lifeguards took over and provided oxygen to the woman.

Paramedics then took over treatment and transported the woman in serious condition to a hospital, EMS said.
