Maui fire personnel rescue female hiker in Keanae
Maui fire personnel rescued a female hiker in her 50s a mile into the Keanae Arboretum hiking trail this afternoon.
The woman, a Canadian visitor, slipped and injured her ankle, a fire official said in an e-mail.
Fire personnel got the call at 12:12 p.m., and a rescue crew aboard a fire helicopter spotted the woman at 12:55 p.m.
The woman was airlifted to a landing zone at the Keanae YMCA.
She was then taken by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.
