The Kauai Department of Water is holding public meetings to solicit public comment on possible new rate structures for its Water System Development Fee, which has not been changed in nearly 10 years.

The fee is paid by new water users and existing users who need additional water. The charge is designed to cover the cost of adding new capacity such as new water sources and storage and transmission pipelines.

Meetings will be held 6-7 p.m. on these days: Friday at Kapaa Neighborhood Center, Monday at Kekaha Neighborhood Center and Tuesday at Lihue Neighborhood Center. For more information, go to www.kauaiwater.org.
