Winds are expected to decrease this weekend as an east-moving trough continues to move across the state.

While heavy rain anticipated for Hawaii island and Maui did not materialize Friday, clouds and showers may still occur in the interior and leeward sections of the islands Saturday and Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Shower activity is expected to increase early next week as a weakening front approaches the state.

A high-surf advisory remains in effect for east-facing shores of Oahu, Hawaii island, Kauai, Maui and Molokai through 6 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service predicts waves of 7 to 10 feet.
