At least 6 killed in Bangladesh factory fire
At least six workers were killed after a fire swept through a Dhaka-based garment factory, according to the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The employees of Smart Export Garments Ltd. died either after jumping out of windows or in a stampede, Abdul Halim, a deputy assistant director of the Fire Service, said in a telephone interview from Dhaka.
More than 300 workers were at the factory, Major Mohammad Mahbub, director of the Fire Service’s operations, told reporters. None was burnt to death, he said.
