Kaukahi, Jack Johnson to intro new surf film
“A Deeper Shade of Blue,” a surf movie by filmmaker and director Jack McCoy, will be screened in select U.S. movie theaters Thursday March 28 and viewers will be welcomed by music from Kaukahi featuring Jack Johnson.
In “A Deeper Shade,” McCoy, who has produced surf films for four decades, explores the sport, its roots, and the history of surfing culture including the roles of Princes Kaiulani and Malibu surfing icon Kathy “Gidget” Kohner, in surfing’s rise to worldwide fame.
The film also features Hawaii’s Rell Sunn, the first female lifeguard in Hawaii and founder of the Women’s Professional Surfing Association.
