The city has temporarily suspended the building permits at a construction site on Hao Street in Aina Haina on property owned by developer Jeff Stone.

In a press release this aftrnoon, the city Department of Planning and Permitting said the building permits where two single-family homes are being built was suspended after it received a letter from William Aila Jr., Department of Land and Natural Resources Chairman.

Aila asked that the city stop the construction because the State Historic Preservation Division “believes a historic site may exist or existed,” the city said.

The city said the suspension is temporary while it considers the state’s recommendation that an Archaeological Inventory Survey be conducted.
