Police arrest prison escapee in Kapolei kidnapping, assault
Honolulu police arrested a prison escapee and are looking for a second suspect in connection with a kidnapping and assault Friday morning in Kapolei.
According to police, the two men entered a Kapolei residence about 8:30 a.m., assaulted a man and woman with a dangerous instrument and forcibly took the woman.
The male victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Police believe the woman is still being held by the suspects. Both victims are identified as being in their 30s.
An Emergency Medical Services report indicated the male victim was assaulted with a baseball bat.
Police arrested one of the suspects in the case, Leslie Dabis, 38, who escaped from Oahu Community Correctional Center on Jan. 14. He was located Friday night in Kalihi.
The other suspect is an unknown man, in his late 20s or early 30s. He is described as 5-feet 8-inches to 6-feet tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds, with short afro hair and letters and tribal markings tattooed across his upper back.
