A 63-year-old woman tourist from Washington state was taken in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center after rescuers pulled her from the Honolua Bay in west Maui Thursday morning.

Maui firefighters and Napili Ocean Safety rescue personnel responded  to a swimmer in distress call at 9:20 a.m.  The woman was snorkeling when someone on shore noticed her yelling for help.
