Hawaii Energy issues Earth Day reminder about fridge rebates
Hawaii Energy, the conservation and efficiency program for Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui counties, is issuing an Earth Day reminder to consumers about various rebates it offers for turning in old refrigerators and buying new, energy efficient models.
Residents can receive up to a $125 rebate from Hawaii Energy if they purchase an Energy Star-approved refrigerator and turn in an old, working refrigerator.
Hawaii Energy also offers a separate rebate under its “Bounty Program” ranging from $25 on Oahu to $65 on Maui and Hawaii island to anyone who turns in an old, full-size, working refrigerator or freezer. WIth both rebates Hawaii Energy will haul away the old appliances at no cost. The Bounty Program will be offered through June 2013, or as long as funding lasts.
Residents also can receive a $50 rebate when they purchase an Energy Star refrigerator with a minimum size of 16 cubic feet and price of $600 or less.
