State flags to fly at half-staff for Boston victims

Gov. Neil Abercrombie has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims of Monday’s tragedy in Boston.

Three people were killed and more than 140 were injured when two bombs exploded in the crowded streets near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

“Our thoughts are with the victims, families and many others impacted by the terrifying events that unfolded yesterday at the Boston Marathon,” Abercrombie said. “We offer our support and our aloha to the people of Massachusetts during this difficult time.”

State flags at state offices and agencies as well and the Hawaii National Guard are to be lowered from sunrise to sunset today. President Obama earlier today ordered that U.S. flags be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations and naval vessels until sunset April 20.
