Four men, including a 16-year-old juvenile male, were arrested after two homeless men reported being attacked at a beach in Makena on Sunday.

One of the victims, who told Maui police he is from Sammamish, Wa., was playing his guitar at 3:30 p.m. with friends at Little Beach at Makena when he and another homeless man from Nebraska were attacked and threatened with a knife by one of the suspects.

The homeless man from Washington state was taken to Maui Memorial Hospital in stable condition with a broken jaw, loss of several molars and teeth, along with multiple bruising and swelling of his face and head. He was hit with his guitar by his attackers, police said.

The Nebraska man was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

Four men — ages 16, 18, 20 and 27 — are suspected in taking part in the attack. Charges are pending.
