North Korea reports bird flu outbreak
North Korea reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza at the Tudan Duck Factory threatening 164,000 birds, the World Organization for Animal Health said.
The outbreak began April 19 in a southwestern part of the country, Ri Kyong Gun, veterinary director in the Ministry of Agriculture in Pyongyang, said in a report to the Paris-based veterinary group, also known as the OIE.
