The pilot of a single-engine small plane walked away without injuries after the landing gear on his plane collapsed upon landing this morning at Honolulu Airport.

Caroline Sluyter, Department of Transportation spokeswoman, said a preliminary report indicates that the aircraft’s forward landing gear collapsed when the plane landed at 6:30 a.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, which happened on Runway 4R.

The 21-foot Stoddard-Hamilton Glasair III aircraft was towed off the runway at 7:40 a.m.

No one was injured. The pilot was the only person on the aircraft, the FAA said.

The fixed-wing, single-engine two-seat aircraft is registered in Kailua-Kona and was manufactured in 1989, FAA records show.
