Paraplegic rower leaves California on 80-day voyage to isles
Paraplegic rower Angela Madsen left Santa Cruz Harbor early Sunday morning for what she anticipates will be an 80-day solo journey across the Pacific to Hawaii.
Madsen was scheduled to leave on Saturday but delayed her departure due to high surf.
The 52-year-old grandmother has previously completed crossings of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, as well as a trip around Great Britain.
Madsen is undertaking the 2,300 trans-Pacific crossing with the benefit of an escort boat.
