Recent University of Hawaii graduate Pi’ikea Kitamura agreed to terms on a free agent deal with the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.

Kitamura, a four-year starter for the Rainbows, confirmed the news via text on Sunday night. He expects to receieve the information on when and where he reports Monday morning.

He started 223 games at UH and played in the Cape Cod League last summer after hitting .311 as a junior.

Kitamura finished his Rainbow career with 205 hits, 109 runs scored and 114 RBIs.

His signing comes a day after UH failed to have a player selected in the MLB draft for the first time in 13 years.
