Maui firefighters busy with three brush fires
Maui firefighters extinguished three small brush fires over a two-hour period on Friday evening.
Kahului firefighters responded to a 7:09 p.m. call to an area above the Maui Lani Parkway golf course entrance, where they found and extinguished a half-acre fire.
As the Kahului fire company battled that fire, personnel from Kahului and Wailuku were dispatched to Mahaolu Street to fight a one-acre fire.
Shortly after, crews from Kihei and Wailea were sent to Kuihelani Highway, where fire had spread across a 1,000-square-foot area. The fire came within 100 yards of a residence.
The three fires were extinguished by 8:54 p.m. No injuries or damage were reported. The causes of the fires were not immediately determined.
