Medical Examiner IDs man who died after being struck on Pali Highway
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 24-year-old man who died earlier this week from injuries he suffered last weekend when he was struck crossing the Pali Highway as Levy Rivera.
Rivera was struck by pickup truck July 6 while crossing the Pali Highway and died at the hospital July 8.
Police said Rivera, who has a Marine Corps Base Hawaii address, was crossing the Kailua-bound lanes of the highway, near the tunnels, when he was struck by the Kailua-bound truck. There was no immediate comment from the Marine Base at Kaneohe Bay on whether Rivera was a Marine or a dependent.
The official cause of Rivera’s death is pending further investigation.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors on the part of the driver.
