Medical Examiner IDs woman found floating at Haleiwa beach

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 45-year-old Wahiawa woman who apparently drowned at Papailoa Beach in Haleiwa Monday as Ruth Deogracias, whose husband is stationed at Fort Shafter.

An autopsy conducted today determined she died from an accidental drowning.Deogracias was found in the water, unresponsive and taken to shore by a bystander at about 1:45 p.m., Emergency Medical Services said.

The Army said the victim was the spouse of a soldier assigned to U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter.
