Kauai County is asking the public for input on a draft master plan for the county’s parks and recreation facilities.

Printed copies of the plan are available at all public libraries on Kauai. It’s also viewable online at kauaiparks.com.

Kauai Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho, Jr. says proper management of recreational opportunities has a positive effect on the economy, environment and the overall well-being of Kauai.

He says the plan lays the groundwork to achieve these goals.

The county said Wednesday the Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a series of meetings to review plan details and gather feedback. Meetings will be held in Kapaa, Hanalei, Koloa, Waimea and Lihue.

This is the first time the county has updated its parks master plan since it was originally prepared in 1978.
