San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te'o practiced during mini-camp held at the Chargers' facility today in San Diego.

Saying he is "excited, anxious and ready," Manti Te’o is expected to start in his National Football League debut today in the San Diego Chargers preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks at Qualcomm Stadium.

The game will be shown on KGMB and the NFL Network at 4 p.m.

Te’o, a second-round pick out of Notre Dame, is penciled in as the starter at strong inside linebacker for the Chargers after a strong showing in training camp. San Diego is expected to work in two others, Bront Bird and Phillip Dillard, at the position.

"I’m excited, anxious and ready," Te’o, a North Shore native, told Chargers.com this week. "I’m going to try to stay calm but my nerves are going to be high for sure. But I think that is a good thing. It’s hit me that I’m a Charger, but it’s going to be a completely different atmosphere and feeling (tonight)."

The Chargers’ Mike McCoy will also make his debut as a head coach.
