HARTFORD, Conn. >> Officials say an inmate at Hartford Correction Center is dead after an apparent suicide.
Corrections officials say 31-year-old John Matthew Tyhurst was found unresponsive Friday night with a ligature around his neck. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Pearl City, Hawaii man had been held since July 30 on charges of employing a minor in an obscene performance.
The state corrections department says Tyhurst was alone in his cell when he was found. A state medical examiner will determine the manner and cause of death.
