Deputy sheriffs catch probationer who fled from Circuit Court
Deputy sheriffs caught a 26-year-old man after he allegedly fled Circuit Court today when his probation officer alerted deputies to detain him.
About 1:30 p.m., Kimo L. Byrd fled the courthouse, and deputy sheriffs chased after him through Restaurant Row and caught him on Channel Street, according to Toni Schwartz, spokeswoman of the Department of Public Safety. Sheriffs arrested him on suspicion of escape.
Byrd is on probation after he was convicted of two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual assault. In March 2009, a Circuit Court judge sentenced him to five years probation and $1,900 restitution.
