Deputy sheriffs Tuesday apprehended a 40-year-old female inmate who failed to return from a visit with a group that was to prepare her for eventual release.

Jennifer Garcia was found in the university area around 8:30 a.m. this morning and taken back to the women’s prison in Kailua. Garcia went missing on Sept. 27.

Garcia was in a transitional program called "Bridge" with a transitional halfway house within the women’s prison

Schwartz said Garcia, convicted of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and second-degree robbery, will be charged with second-degree escape.
