Maui visitor, 30, killed in fall from cliff at Nakalele Point
A 30-year-old man visiting from Redding, Calif. was killed early Wednesday afternoon in a 30-foot fall from a cliff at Nakalele Point, the northernmost point on the western half of Maui, according Maui County Police Department.
Napili and Lahaina firefighters, along with rescue personnel, responding to an emergency call at about 12:15 p.m. were directed by bystanders at the scene to Nakalele’s blow hole area where Dominic Reginatto had fallen onto a rocky area. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on Reginatto prior to fire and medics arrival.
Medics and firefighters provided medical attention, packaged and readied Reginatto to be airlifted. Rescue personnel hauled the victim to a nearby secured landing zone. Reginatto was then loaded into an ambulance where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
