Small quake shakes east side of Hawaii island
A small earthquake shook the eastern side of Hawaii island Saturday night.
The quake, with a magnitude of 3.6, struck just before 9 p.m. and was centered 11 miles south-southwest of Leilani Estates and 28 miles south-southeast of Hilo, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS’ “did you feel it?” web page for the quake generated about 2 dozen responses, mostly from the east side of the island but also including one from Kealakekua, about 60 miles west of the epicenter.
