Man killed in 3-car crash near Honokai Hale
A three-car crash near Honokai Hale Friday night killed a 26-year-old Waialua man.
The crash happened on Farrington Highway east of Laaloa Street at 92-789 at 9:08 p.m. Police said the 26-year-old man was driving Waianae-bound in a two-door white Honda when his car clipped a four-door black Mercedes, driven by a 40-year-old Kapolei woman, crossed over the median, and broadsided a town-bound car driven by a 50-year-old man.
Paramedics took the Waialua man to the hospital in extremely critical condition, according to an Emergency Medical Services report. Police said he was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash at 10:01 p.m.
Police closed all town-bound lanes, and one Waianae-bound lane, of Farrington Highway at Honokai Hale for several hours while they investigated the crash.
The death marks the 46th traffic fatality so far this year, compared to 47 at this time last year.
