Kalihi man gets life in prison in death of adoptive mother

Charly Hernane appeared in Circuit Court on Wednesday. Hernane is being charged with second-degree murder of his adoptive mother Teresita Hernane, 56, who was found slain in her Kalihi home on May 11, 2011.
A 29-year-old Kalihi man was sentenced this morning to the mandatory life prison term with the possibility for parole for killing his adoptive mother two years ago.
A state jury found Charly Hernane guilty in August of murder in the death of 56-year-old Teresita Dumalan Hernane.
Teresita Hernane died May 11, 2011 of a stroke and stab wound to her face that injured her jugular vein.
