Kailua men arrested for alleged illegal entry into UH dorm room

Two Kailua men were arrested early Sunday morning after they allegedly entered a University of Hawaii dorm room in Manoa without permission, according to a police report.

University officials said the two men, ages 19 and 20, were talking to a student at the entrance to a Hale Noelani apartment at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

After talking with one of the residents, the two men entered the apartment without invitation, saying they wanted to talk to her roommate. University officials said the two women, ages 18 and 19, living in the apartment knew the suspects.

Student housing staff called campus security officers patrolling nearby and the two men fled in a vehicle with security officers following them.

The two men were arrested by police at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of unauthorized entry. They were later released pending further investigation.
