Hawaii basketball senior forward Christian Standhardinger was named the Big West Player of the Week after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 2-0 season start.

Standhardinger, an All-BWC first-team selection last year, averaged 18.5 points and eight rebounds in wins over Tennessee State and Western Michigan in the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rainbow Classic. He shot 46.2 percent (12-for-26) from the field, and notched a double-double against TSU.

It was the third career BWC weekly honor for Standhardinger, who won it on back-to-back weeks last season.

UH concludes the Rainbow Classic on ESPN2 against New Mexico State in a late-night affair as part of the College Hoops Tip-off Marathon. The game starts at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH is encouraging attending fans to wear black as part of a "Blackout" promotion.
